My usual marble cake with a little pink twist

For the pink twist, i used stawberry essence and pink colouring and it turned out quite well. And it did have the strawberry taste to it...=)

As usual...it was gone like a wind by one and the half day....

Seafood Horfun

Since Dh is still suffering from ulcer on his toungue, i shall cook more non-spicy food for him. So i whipped up Seafood Horfun for lunch. This is one of the kids favourite hawker food and but i seldom ordered this for them. Because if they were eating on their own like usual, the food will get everywhere...on their clothes, all over their mouths, on their laps....it just messy! To make it work, I have to feed them or monitor them like an eagle..lol..

Dh and the kids think my seafood horfun is nice but i still think it's not the best ....but that's me...always expect the best out of myself when comes to cooking but still i won't beat myself over it...

8th Wedding aniversary

On the 21/12/10, it was our 8th wedding anniversary. Hubby told me days before ...that he had booked a table for us and the kids at Grand Hyatt's Straits Kitchen for dinner buffet....my jaws dropped when i heard that. It's been in my "wish list" for so many years now and finally i got to try it. He also surprised me BIG TIME when he gave me $100 Sephora vouchers...he said that this time i can really shop in Sephora store instead just walking around and walked out empty handed everytime.
I felt really bad that i didn't buy anything for him. I didn't even buy a new dress/outfit to look nice for our dinner that time because i had spent most of my money on necessities for KL trip. Just dressed plainly because i was a bit under the weather ..or maybe just tired from the trip. I will remember to put more effort and thought for his gift this May as a compensation(kindda had an idea already)
Ok, back to the interesting topic which is the FOOD! Well, what can i say....it was luxuriously buffet spread of local food like Malay, Chinese, Indian and Nyonya food. I was hoping to see cheesecake and sushi.....but Nope....they really strict and abide on the local concept rule.
In the Chinese section, the Black Pepper Crab is a must try...the crabs were fairly big and loaded with juicy tender meat enveloped with thick black pepper gravy. I also loved the Popiah (fresh spring roll)...and i think it was the best i've ever tried actually....also loved the briyani rice which not greasy at all but flavourful, also tried Ayam buah keluak for the first time and it was good..to sum it all (before my saliva dropped on my keyboard), i would like to say that most of the food were super nice and i wished i came with a bigger tummytank to try all of them.
We did not take a lot of pictures of the food because the lighthing were dim and we just wanted to enjoy the moment without worry about too much stuff...anyway we had a wonderful day and will keep on going to find ways to make the happiness in our marriage last. It can get a little difficult sometimes...that's why it needs love, patience, communication, compromise, sacrifice and doa.

Aniq and Aliah fast for the first time...

It was the first time Aniq and Aliah bersahur with us...i was glad that they were quite easy to be awaken even at 4.00am.

As usual my mother always called us over to break fast and usually she will cook a feast. She has always been generous on food.
At first i thought of making chocolate cupcakes and tahu sumbat but i knew that there will be lot of food so i skip on tahu sumbat...and i was right..
This is the chocolate cupcake that i always make...the one that the twins always loved...especially the icing....

Got a new Hp.

Took this picture using my new Hp Sony Erricson W995 camera (8.1 mp) and i love the quality of this picture. That means i don't need to bring my camera all the time with me. Yeah!!Dh asked whether i wanted iphone more than twice and i answered No because i rarely went out and i have my beloved pc at home but if i'm working, definitely i will get iphone for sure because it is really a GREAT HP!!

We paid less for both HP because we got $160 vouchers($80 for each HP) from Singtel to redeem.

After we bought it, we went to ION for coffee at CoffeeBean and we get Rosemary Roast Chicken with a bread of our choice which is Baguette with side salad for 8.50. I've been meaning to try it months ago since i saw the Halal logo stated on the menu. Hubby also promised to bring me to Fish Manhattan Restaurant end of this month. So yeah yeah....

As for my sewing project/business...i have sewed two of out three because the third one, i had insufficient material given by customer and i forgot to ask for their phone number so i need to wait till the school re-opens before i get to meet her and discuss about her daughter's kebaya as i got other alternatives to make it work and need to discuss with her.For now, i'm making my kebaya and Aliah's. I sketched the simple design kebaya with bell sleeve and cekak musang as my neckline on sketch book and showed it to Aliah and she love it!! My konon konon little customer......hahaha

OK that's it for now...got to go back to work and i'm now already starting to payback my fasting days ...well 5 days to go....

Spaghetti with Seafood sauce

This recipe i got from http://www.recipezaar.com/ and if I'm not wrong it was actually called Amazing Spaghetti with seafood sauce and it's truly amazing to me. I haven't tried lots of different pasta recipe and I'm truly satisfied with this one and this recipe is a keeper!

(4 Servings)

==========

3 tbsp olive oil

1 onion and 2 garlic chopped

1 1/4 cans of Hunts tomato diced tomato (then i used blender to smooth out the sauce)

1 tbsp tomato puree

1 tsp oregano, 1 bay leaf

2 tsp sugar

1 cup of prawns (12-15 pcs)

8 crabstick (each pc cut into 3 parts)

white clams (i don't use it cause the kids sure will not like it)

1 tbsp lemon juice

300gm spaghetti or penne

2 tbsp butter

Instructions

==========

1)Heat the oil in a pan and add onion and garlic till soft.

2) Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in another seperate saucepan of boiling water salted water till al dente.

3) Stir in the blended tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, bay leaf and sugar to the onion.

4) Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer or 2-3 mins.

5)Add prawns, crabstick and lemon juice.

6) Stir well, then cover and cook for 6-7 mins. Do not overcook. And the sauce is done.

7) Meanwhile, drain the spaghetti and add the butter to the pan.

8)Return the spaghetti to the pan and stir well so that the spaghetti well-coated with the butter.

9)Season with salt and pepper to taste.

10) Serve the spaghetti with sauce on top. For my case, i mix the spaghetti together and stir well so that the kids have easy access to it.

Banquet at Causeway pt.

I feel so bad for not exploring much at my nearest Banquet (Causeway Pt)and not knowing much about what's nice or what's not. So Dh and i went there wanting to try new stuff rather eating the regular stuff that we usually ordered. So i went to the Korean stall and asked what's recommended and she told me that they were having a promotion on Chicken something-something with rice for $4.80.(usual price is $6.00). So i went ahead with that while Dh ordered Spicy Hokkien mee.

My chicken something something in a hotplate with a bowl of plain rice, tofu and seaweed soup, fried anchovies and kimchi.

Spicy Hokkien Mee at the carrot cake stall.
The verdict?? My chicken something2 was just ok ok...definitely will not pay $6.00 for that. But it was just fine for simple and light meal though. Will i order it again? Probably no...
The spicy Hokkien mee on the other hand was quite nice ...in fact i will order that the next time, i think.
But i will definitely recommend Roti John from the Indian stall....it's very nice.

Majlis Khatam Al-quran

My first attempt making Pulut Kuning..Topped it with egg omelette.

Rendang Ayam on the peak of everything. I made 30 packets of this and luckily Dh was around last Friday to help me carrying all the stuff.oh boy..it was so heavy..
The majlis was a joyous one with 20+ people including my mum around to witness and i tried to keep myself steady because i'm a person who will get nervous easily with so many people focusing on me...haha
But alhamdullilah everything went smoothly and on the same day i received news that kamisah had given birth to a healthy baby boy (3.09kg)..A good beroqah day for all.

Sarpino's home delivery

Double pepperoni pizza
Can't remember the name of this one-except it has chicken topping.

Honey chicken...i regret ordering this...the taste is how they look like...Sooo normal...and unappetising.

The beef lasagna....haiz...a little dissapointing too..it didn't contain any white sauce in it.

Overall i would say that next time i feel like ordering pizza and other stuff, i would order it from Pizza Hut ...the one that never dissapoints me...If i wanted to order pizza only, then Sarpino's would be alright but the side dishes were horrible in my opinion and it doesn't worth the money.

I remembered i bought a single slice of Sarpino's pizza from the Suntec City for takeaway and Dh and i were blown away by it's taste but the pizza that we ordered for home delivery cannot compete that....I think i would stick to Pizza Hut when comes to home delivery.

Roti Boyan

Once a while, i would crave for this ....the difference i made which taught by my mum is we don't deep fry the Roti Boyan but only to fry it with minimal usage of oil. But it could be deep fry too if i want it to be ....just choosing the healthier version to enjoy my meal.

Fish n chips

Bought the Dory/Sutchi fillet in Prime supermarket which cost $5.95 (i think)...i couldn't recall which brand but i only use this brand which the fillet doesn't carry any strong smell than other most brand. I can totally use it in fish porridge without worry of any weird fishy smell.

Since i got a little more time now, i decided to put the recipe here in case anybody wants to try it out...believe me that this is good and simple recipe...

Ingredients:
3 dory/sutchi fillet cut in two, blot with kitchen towel to get rid of the 'extra water'.
Flour
2 eggs+ white pepper+ salt (whisk this altogether)
100gm breadcrumbs

First of all, coat the fish with the flour then to the egg mixture and into the breadcrumbs.
Leave it to marinade for 15-20 mins.
And lastly, deep fry it and you can serve with coleslaw, baked beans and of course french fries....or else it won't be called as Fish n CHIPS!!

Simple rite?...

Fun Frosting day.

A design that i just came up with..instead the normal swirl.
Just goofing around with the frosting.

My yucky design with my limited frosting.

Hubby's design..he totally had fun with it...hahaha..
Told me that he wanted to do this again. Luckily the kids were at school or else he will not have the chance..hehehe

After they came back from school, they were delighted to see the cupcakes that i've prepared.

Usually they will licked their frosting first till nothing left then they will savour the cakes...that's how they do it!

Enjoying the sweet treats...

Pizza with pastrami

Made 2 pizzas on last sunday just before the soccer game which by the way SUCKS big time ...i mean the game not my pizzas, of course...haha
Man U lost to Leeds in FA Cup, so they were OUT....
Man U kinda sucks lately...hope they pull up their socks soon....and please give us(your fan) a good game to watch...it will definitely brighten up my weekends which i literally sacrifies to stay at home to watch you guys....

And i don't know why i've been loving italian feast and just last week, i made spaghetti seafood and i really love it so much that i feel i want to make it again soon...even the kids love it so much that they ate a lot.. i forgot to take pictures of it to post it here..well, maybe next time then.

My chocolate chips muffins

These were the muffins that I've made for the kids farewell party on their last day of school.
At first i thought of making chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing but i changed my mind because for sure i know that the kids will make a mess and stained their clothes.
So to make it hassle-free, i instantly chose chocolate chips muffins which are easier to make and easier to eat..it's a win-win situation.

I've made two badges which of course one badge is for my family and it was gone in two days....it feels like that the muffins have gone with the wind...lol...

chicken pot pie

This is my chicken pot pie that i had attempted to make today and apparently it was a success!!
I'm so in love with this and this is perfectly comfort food for me espeically when it's raining outside which sadly did not happen today....hahaha
Dh really loves the filling which is so creamy and colourful due to the mixed vegetables. I think this is perfect too for picnic food....HHmmmm....sounds like a plan...
