Prep for school

The first day at school is a milestone for both parents and child.
I hope i will not pass on my anxiety to my kids when the time comes.

We already bought their school uniforms, socks, school materials and their white school shoes. It were Barney's shoes!

Everytime we passed by their school, we would asked them "Where is your school?". They would gladly pointed it correctly even though i'm pretty sure that they do not know what school means.

But i'm sure they noticed it's a place where they saw a lot of children almost their age wearing uniforms. And i hope they could smell fun coming out from that place.

Hope that they will not cry hysterically on their first day, if not it will be more difficult for me to pull it together.

I have to remember to brace myself up and be strong. Aamiin

6th wedding anniversary!!

On 21th December, it was our 6th wedding anniversary. On that day we did nothing out ordinary though. juz having lunch with our kids. At the end of the day..family that really matters.

I chose fish n chips as my main course while Dh chose breaded chicken.

Looks like Aliah had a better apetite than Aniq that day as she finished every bits of the food on her plate. Way to go, girl!

Making the effort to feed ownself without our help. Bravo..!

How stange was it that we ordered dessert first before our main course? Guess we had to satisfy our sweet tooth first..before our tummies.

Choice for the kids - 2 Mini beef burgers, a cup of sweetcorn, few star fries and a glass of orange juice. I found that the beef patties were a little salty.... personally i prefer the burger king's burger. Cheaper and more delicious.

How will you know what to order if the menu is upside down, huh Aniq...?

Walnut rocky road (serves 2). It was the first time i ordered this and will not be the last. I will definitely order this again someday...

Happy family portrait!

Hari Raya Haji

Looking like a Hajjah with a stylo milo sunglasses.

A rock star!!

This was what i prepared for Hari Raya's eve which was requested by DH.
Instead of prawns, i've put cockles for a change.
DH had 3 big bowls of it and i'm glad that he enjoyed every minute eating it.
There's this saying
To win a man's heart is through his stomach.....well with DH, it is a true statement.

Char kuay teow

This was the third attempt i've tried to make Char kuay teow and at last i finally got it according to my preference!

The kiddos had few second helpings and they seemed to enjoy it.

This morning i taught Aniq and Aliah to pronounce and know my name..so this is how it goes when i asked them

me: What is your name?
Aniq: Aniq!!
me: What is your mother's name?
Aniq: Rostita ( pelat for Roslinda) Lol...
Well, i had a good laugh

me: What is your name?
Aliah: Aliah!!
me: What is your mother's name?
Aliah: ??? blur ?? (no sound)

It's ok honey...maybe we'll try again.

Aliah can recognise white colour well now other than pink. That's another improvement to be happy about.

For Aniq, he gave me a splendid wonderful surprise this afternoon. I brought them out for groceries shopping nearby and when we were about to cross the road, Aniq said wait...wait while pointing a van. When the van already passed us by, aniq then said go..go..
oh gosh he can give instruction on how to cross road safely now...huh..
isn't he cute or what...

Banana Cake

Yesterday i made these banana cake out of boredom. I was one desperate housewife who needs to bake something nice and sweet.
I remembered the first time my mother made banana cake. I was still in Primary school and used to like it a lot but she doesn't make it anymore after that.
But now i can make it on my own..!
I've made this 3-4 times now and i feel i'm getting better. It was the most easiest cake recipe by far....
Banana Cake

1 1/2 cups of plain flour (sifted)
1 tsp baking soda
1 pinch of salt

Mix these dry ingredients well.

125g butter
180g of sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence

1 egg
2 tbsp milk
3 mashed ripe bananas or 1 cup

Preheat oven 180c.
Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla essence till light and fluffy.
Put in egg and milk and mix well. Next put in the mashed bananas and mix well.
Mix in the dry ingredients bit by bit but do not beat it too long.

Can bake in 8 inch loaf pan or 7 inch square pan for 35 mins.

Arnold's Fried Chicken

Last Sunday we decided to dine at Arnold's at City Plaza (2nd level). I remembered our last visit was 2 yrs ago and remembered feeling disappointed because i feel the fried chickens were dry and not juicy at all. But my hubby's colleagues told him to try it again because they don't share his opinion. So we decieded to give it a try one more time. Well, sometimes i believe in second chance!

So here goes nothing....we were surprised that his colleagues were right! The half spring chickens that we ordered were fresh, sweet and juicy...yumm yumm i can feel my saliva in my mouth now as i type this..
My hubby still talking about it when we reached home. He said that he will bring us there again and soon...he he
The whipped potato was better than KFC's but we totally dissapointed with the onion rings that we ordered. The Burger king's was better. So overall we had a good lunch..something to be grateful for..
Showing off her two bunny teeth. Actually one of them is hanging loose now due to her fall on the floor while trying to play 'catching' with Aniq. Sooner or later we have to say goodbye to her milk teeth, right..?

This is the menu. As shown here, the half spring chicken cost $5.50. It was served with some fries and can choose between coleslaw or whipped potato as one of the side dish.

First time after 6 years!

This is the fruit labour of my hubby's first time cooking after 6 years or rather in his whole life.
It's Ayam lemak cili padi-one of his favourites
I gave him a detailed instruction on how to cook and he promised he would just try it without asking many questions. So while he cooks, i gave the children a bath. (exchange duties)
The result?
The taste and the style is exactly like mine. So proud of you...hubby
Look like that he had a lot of fun doing it so he told me that he would like to try another recipe next week......
So could somebody give him an apron, please???!!

zoo part 2

This is at Children's World play land. We don't know anything about the existence of this place so we did not bring towels and swimming costumes for the kids. Sorry..kiddos!

Having their share of fun even they can't afford to get their clothes wet.

We were sitting on these cute animal chairs at KFC's.

Me and Aniq posing away while hubby buying coffee to warm up our bodies.

Singapore Zoo

ZOO Admission Ticket Only (Adult) is $18.00 while ZOO Admission Ticket Only (Child age 3-12) is $9.00. I was telling myself...oh gosh..that expensive! But lucky for us that hubby can get 4 free passes from his company. Even though we have to wait a while to get our hands on the passes, well i think it worth the wait considering how expensive the admission tickets were.

The picture above is where Aliah checking out the African penguins! She was totally intrigued by it.

This is a white tiger. Altogether there are three white tigers and they even have names. I know that one of them called Winnie, if I'm not wrong.
This was taken near the zoo entrance. It was raining drizzling so hubby bought 2 ponchos for the kids to put on while me and hubby used umbrella.

Elephant is one of the animals that they can recognise.

We stopped a while to eat lunch while watching the elephants. I've made Fried Rice (requested by dear hubby) and sardine and potato curry puffs.
Overall our trip to the zoo was ok except for the weather even though it wasn't raining cats and dogs but still our moods were still affected by it.

Recognition of colours

Since the twins just turned three years old, I thought of coaching them on recognition of colours more seriously. I have to prepare my toddlers by reinforcing basic skills early on.

Aliah definitely recognize pink compare to other colours while
Aniq sometimes recognize yellow which I wonder why myself.
So I will point out colours whenever I’m out of the house because it’s more fun that way.

Three days ago, I brought them to the nearby shops to buy groceries. When we’re about to cross the road, I asked them to point me something in yellow.
I was hoping that either one of them at least will point at this gigantic signboard in yellow in front of us but instead Aniq pointed the double yellow line on the road. I was taken by surprise. Bravo!!

The reason I wrote this because I want to remember every little details about them which I hope to tell my grandchildren about it one day…insyaallah.

My best friend's birthday..

I've set a reminder in my Hp to remind me of Ana's 30th birthday. I know myself..sometimes i get too immerse in my own world and occasionally i tend to forget some things that is important...or at least to me.
While I'm doing my homework from my sewing class...suddenly my handphone made a sound.
After i jog my memory, i already knew that it's a reminder of her birthday without seeing my handphone.

So i grab my handphone and text her birthday wish at 12.11 am...and it goes like this

me: Halo...Happy 30th Birthday dear. Semoga dimurahkan rezeki dan berjaya dlm kehidupan.

She replied at 12.44am

Ana: Eh thnks! So glad of yr wishes. Such a nice feeling dat u remembered n tell u wat , u r the 1st fren dat wish me. Thnks dear. ;-)

Everyone i think should best friends or at least good friends....

Explorer kid at E!hub@Downtown East

This is Aniq getting ready slide all the way.....

This is at Toddler Play Area.

Climbing and exploring with Ayah.

They were totally not afraid of height.

These are the membership cards to explorer kid. We bought them at cheaper price ($5.50 each) cause hubby is a NTUC member. They claim to be Singapore's largest indoor children playground.

They really enjoyed the facilities there. This is the Toddler Play area(under 3 years old).

As soon we reached the E!hub@Downtown East, i saw this pony ride and immediately i wanted them to try it. Ticket at $3.00 each but free for parent. (And of course, i just suppose to supervise them, not ride along with them!)

This is the Lit Ball Pool. Only for kids who are 3 years onwards. It was so much colourful and awesome than the Toddler Play Area.

This is another ride..a choo choo train. Just beside the pony ride.

Assessment at 2 to 3 years

We took taxi to Yishun Polyclinic at 8.50am cause we were running late. I thought i can beat the peak hours period which you had to pay extra but too bad we didn't make it. We reached at 9.05am (5mins too late)

As soon as we arrived, i told hubby to buy us some breakfast first because my tummy was growling for help. We bought 2 chicken pau( for the kids and hubby), 1 curry bun and a redbull for my sleepy eyes (slept at 3am yesterday).

We waited at level 2 for at least 15-20 mins before our number was being called. We went to a room where the malay nurse awaiting us. She started taking measurements like heights and weights.

Aniq
Weight= 14kg
Height=102cm (is that means i have to get a ticket for his mrt rides ..? oh noo..)
Head circumference=49cm

Aliah
Weight= 14.1kg
Height=101cm (hers too??)
Head circumference=49cm

The nurse kept misunderstood a few times thinking the kids are 4 years old, seeing their size are bigger than the usual 3 yrs old toddler. I told her that the kids inherited my hubby's genes who inherited his grandfather tall and big build.

The nurse gave them some colourful small wooden cubes and asked them to play with it.
Aniq make a straight line with it and later stacked into a tall tower. Aliah then followed the same. The nurse just nodded along and started asking me questions on their development such as speech, gross motor skills, etc,etc..

All question was ticked under the yes box. She kept stressing out that I'm a full time mother and should be able to educate and nurture my kids.(i can feel the pressure already). She encouraged to buy educational toy games and books. But i believe in having fun too with my kids.

By age 4, she wanted them to be able identify letters because their eyes will be tested for lazy eyes. I feel i'm on a mission or something.Lol
My general mission is to bring up my children to be a good human being, soleh and solehah and berguna kepada masyarakat. (contribute to society)
Anyway i'm thankful for her concern and useful tips. i know i can never be a perfect mother but at least i'm trying to be a good one..insyaallah..aamiin

We were done by 10.20 am.
