Parent meeting session

Last Wednesday was the parent meeting session which was held from 10am till 11am at their classroom and there would be no class that day. I, Dh and the kids reached there about 10.05am and we already saw many families were already around.

Then Syahmi's father(classmate) informed us to take no. first and have to wait for our turn to be called. Exactly the same queue system to see a doctor...gosh
Ours was no. 12 and i noticed each session took around 7-10 mins so i estimated in my head that it would take about an hour before our turn. All seats were taken so we ended up standing. 10 mins later, i went out alone to get myself a can drink and some air! Their classroom was air-contioned but somehow i felt suffocated. My health is in poor state lately, don't know why...

Came back and shared the drink with Dh and the kids and hoping it will be our turn soon. Some seats were vacant already so i sat down and make myself calm before hearing the moments of truth..

Then finally No.12 was called out and we went straight to her. Ms LIn had to put another chair to make it 4 seats instead of 3. Usually a mother, a father and their child but for us, he he she had to make special arrangements.

She gave us the kids worksheets back and informed us about their progress and behaviour. These are the following:-

Aniq

  • socialise well with everybody
  • have the confidence to stand up for Aliah and help her when Aliah unable to answer teacher's question
  • able to respond when given directions or questions
  • knows animals, colours and etc well
  • his writing was light-handed and he can only write with dotted dots provided but not free hand yet. (studies shows that kids able to write from the age of 4 at least and my kids are not 4 yrs old yet...so I'm not that worried because i know that they'll get there eventually)
  • shows more interests in gadgets (sharpener, scissors and etc) compare to colouring. (potential engineer like his father who's ast eng..he he )

Aliah

  • enjoys singing nursery rhymes, national anthem and etc (takes after me-loves singing)
  • loves drawing, colouring (takes after me again, i take art as my major in sec school. My late father loves sketching so i guess it runs in the blood)
  • able to respond when given directions or questions
  • able to write well with dotted dots but not free hand yet
  • knows animals, colours and etc
  • lacks of confidence...the teacher told us that when given assignment, she have to make sure Aliah doesn't finish last because she will freaked out and cry if everyone else finished it first.
  • selective when socialising. she only go for the people she's comfortable with.

Overall Ms Lin told us that they both have own specialities individually and their progress are ok. Alhamdullillah. I applaud Ms Lin for her patience and her attention and she makes me feel that Dh and i chose the right school for them. Too bad , it will be a different teacher when they're in K1 next year. Hopefully the new one will be as good....
